To continue the presentation of areas in which the FGG has made major changes since 2004, the following points concern the restructuring of the FGG to become a more effective membership organization.

- Established Assembly with members from Europe, Australia, Africa, South America, Asia, North America
- Elected Board Members from Europe, Australia, Africa, North America
- Enhanced and streamlined bylaws continuously
- Streamlined Membership process
- More flexible Assembly structure with Full Members, Associate Members, and Partners
- Increased membership in FGG Assembly by 30%
- Provided benefits to members, including a rebate program linked to Gay Games registration
- Engaged consultancy services to develop sponsorships and donations
- Increased outreach & scholarship programs, including FGG presence in Cape Town during 2008 Annual Meeting
