Cheer San Francisco makes largest donation in its history

The FGG was pleased to be represented at the presentation by Officer for Marketing Doug Litwin. This ceremony followed the presentation of a check for USD 8000 raised by Cheer SF and other cheerleading groups during Gay Games VIII. From examiner.com:

(San Francisco, CA) – December 2, 2010 – As the 2010 winter holiday season begins, CHEER San Francisco’s 30th Anniversary fundraising efforts truly radiate the warmth of this season of giving.

At 7:00pm next Thursday, December 9, executives from Positive Resource Center (PRC), a San Francisco-based non-profit that offers a broad spectrum of services to the HIV/AIDS community, will attend as Guests of Honor at CHEER SF’s annual CHEER For Life Foundation Check Presentation Banquet. During this dinner event, CHEER SF, who last summer appeared live as a Top 48 contender on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” Season 5, will present PRC representatives with a check for $20,000.00 issued directly from the team’s philanthropic CHEER For Life Foundation. This historic donation will help to finance PRC’s impressive continuum of services provided to community members, including no-cost access to professional benefits advocacy, vocational planning, and legal representation.

"CHEER San Francisco is thrilled to present our largest-ever sum of money to such a worthy partner organization as PRC,” remarks Ryan Allen, CHEER San Francisco Program Director. "The team is celebrating our 30th 'Pearl' Anniversary Year, and being poised to hand over this most extraordinary donation here at home in San Francisco is an honor that we cherish." Not only is CHEER SF presenting $20,000 to PRC, but the team has also delivered a multitude of checks to myriad other partner non-profit agencies during the past year, including $2,500 to Marin AIDS Project, $2,000 to the Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center, $2,000 to UCSF Medical Foundation, $1,100 to Castro Street Fair, $1,750 to Santa Cruz Diversity Center, $1,000 to WomenCARE of Santa Cruz, $250 to Diablo Respite Center, $250 to The Ritter Center of Marin, and $250 to AIDS Emergency Fund. Combined, more than $31,000.00 will have been distributed by December 9, a testament to CHEER SF’s banner year of aggressive fundraising and high-flying performances during its landmark 30th Anniversary.

CHEER SF recognizes these difficult economic times, where budget cuts have negatively impacted service agencies supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS, Breast Cancer, and other life-challenging conditions. Through their CHEER For Life Foundation, CHEER SF has donated $200,000 to said agencies around the world, and over 90% of those funds were donated during the last five years. This is surely a significant impact to their beneficiaries' bottom line, but more importantly, it is a heartfelt message that these people persevering through adversity have not been forgotten.

About Positive Resource Center: PRC is a community-based 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to assist people affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS through culturally appropriate counseling, education, training and advocacy.
