500 days out, London 2012 countdown clock is launched, and ticket sales open

Last night in Trafalgar Square, the countdown clock to the opening of the 2012 Summer Olympics was launched. And this morning, ticket sales to the Olympics open for a period of six weeks. This is a reservation period, with a drawing to be held in case there are more reservations for an event than there are tickets available.
