Since we linked this blog to the official FGG Facebook page a few months ago, we've significantly increased our number of Facebook fans. Last week we topped 800 "likes", and are pleased to tell you more about the young woman who put us over that milestone. (If you haven't "liked" us yourself, you'll find us HERE (facebook.com/federationofgaygames).
Ashley Stevens of Bedford Heights, near hear hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, is a student and activist, involved in various political and social campaigns, in particular for women's causes, equality, and civil rights.
Back in high school, she played softball, serving as equipment manager and infielder for her school team.
About Gay Games IX, she says "I'm ALWAYS talking up all of the progress the state of Ohio has made, in particular for LGBT rights, and more important, our potential for further progress toward equality. I'd love to see more LGBT visibility in ALL sports. I'm pleased to see that some sports that are particularly accessible, like
billiards and bowling, are on the program for 2014."
"I look forward to volunteering for Gay Games IX and doing a lot of promotion of the event locally beforehand."
To thank Ashley for her interest and support, we'll be sending her a DVD of Take the Flame. We look forward to seeing Ashley in Cleveland+Akron in August 2014!
