Cleveland establishment listed in top-ten sports bars in the country

It doesn't sound too healthy, but it does sound good. From the bar's website:

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Melt Bar & Grilled, a Cleveland favorite for gourmet grilled cheese sandwich creations, is featured in the top ten of “ESPN The Magazine’s” list of best sports bars in the country.

The “Not Your Average Sports Bars” list on page 110 of the July 25, 2011 “Fan Issue” gives readers 28 options that are far from the run of the mill. “We’ve been to thousands of them,” says the mag, “dark, dank bars with the same overfried food, flat beer, sticky floors and TVs that never seem to have the right game on. But every once in a while, we stumble upon a joint that makes us happy we gave up our remote for the night. These are those joints…”

Melt sits at No. 10 and was the only restaurant listed in the tri-state area of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

“Think watching the Cavs is hard to stomach?” quips the mag. “Try eating five pounds’ worth of grilled cheese and fries in one sitting,” referring to The Melt Challenge, a dare to down Melt’s monster grilled cheese featuring 13 different cheeses, three slices of grilled bread and a pile of hand-cut fries and slaw—more than five pounds of food! Those who do it are awarded a Melt T-shirt or Melt pint glass, $10 gift card and immortalization in the Melt Challenge Hall of Fame.

Melt is not only a local favorite but has garnered national attention from the likes of The Food Network’s “Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives,” “USA Today,” Esquire” magazine, “ESPN The Magazine,” “The Boston Globe,” FOX News’ Greta Van Susteren and The Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food.” The “Melt Challenge” episode is set to air in June. Accolades for the groundbreaking menu items include “Cleveland Magazine’s” Best Sandwich and “Esquire’s” One of the Best Sandwiches in America list.
