After her nomination in the provisional government of François Hollande's prime minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, the FGG wrote to new minister for sport Valérie Fourneyron, formerly the mayor of Cleveland's sister city Rouen. She has responded with a very cordial letter (English text below). Ms Fourneyron is expected to be confirmed as minister after the results of the second round of legislative elections last weekend, during which she handily won reelection to her seat in the National Assembly (which she will now resign, per French law which bars ministers from serving in the Parliament).
Allow me to express my warm thanks for your message following my nomination as Minister of Sport, Youth, Popular Education and Associations.
This special attention greatly moved me.
Heading this ministry with a wide scope of action is both an honor and recognition of the work accomplished by a team. Within the admniistration of Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, I am committed to respecting the engagements of the President.
Thank you again for your message and your support.
With my warm wishes,
Valérie Fourneyron
(handwritten note follows)
Be assured of my determination to be at your side for an effective collaboration, beyond the twin city relationship of Cleveland and Rouen, and my friendship with Valarie McCall.
