Tonight is the opening ceremony for the 18th Maccabiah, an international multisport event that takes place every four years in Israel. We wish the organizers and athletes of the Maccabiah good luck for great games over the next ten days.
The FGG shares with the Maccabiah the values of sport for all, sport as a tool against discrimination and exclusion, and sport as an affirmation of the human spirit. Like the Maccabiah, the Gay Games welcome athletes of all ages and every level, including Olympic medal winners in their sport, with serious competition in a joyous community-oriented environment.
The FGG would like to take this opportunity to invite all athletes competing in the Maccabiah to Gay Games VIII in Cologne, Germany, which welcomes athletes and artists of all ages and abilities, men and women, gay and straight.
