Participation at 10K Road Race

This was the most fun 10k race I have ever attended. It was a party, and a well organized race. Volunteers and many spectators lined the entire two lap route around Lake Adenauer and Park and the open soccer fields behind the RheinEngergie Stadium. The path was wonderful and much of it covered in a canopy of trees, protecting us from the sun when it popped out.

The 10k Road Race was held on Monday at 17:00. The weather was partly cloudy, warm, humid, but not too hot. Over 500 registered participants lined up for the run in a party atmosphere. The music was upbeat and the announcer of the event kept the crowd's attention and he gave a 15 minute warm up with everyone positioned arm's length apart. It was quite a site to see the symmetrical flow of bodies stretching, leaning to the left and right to the music.

Competition was fast. No medal for me, but I loved participating in Gay Games VIII.

I recommend running this area if you visit Cologne.
