The Mayor of Barcelona recently inaugurated a monument in the Parc de la Ciudatella that recalls gays, lesbians, and transsexuals who have suffered from persecutions and retaliation for their condition throughout history.
The Mayor pointed out that this monument – an inverted pink triangle, made of stone from the mountain of Montjuïc – was the symbol used by Nazis in extermination camps to mark homosexuals, and it has become a message of "Memory and Commitment".
Over two hundred people gathered to celebrate the placement of the monument., which opened and closed with songs by the Barcelona Rainbow Singers, the choir of FGG member Panteres Grogues.
