Gideon's nomination story
Gideon is the founder of BLAGSS - Brighton Lesbian and Gay Sports Society. In 1997 he had a vision to set up BLAGSS to provide an inclusive and supportive sports and social group for the city's gay and lesbian community. Membership is open to all, but the vast majority of our members are either gay or lesbian, and join to play sports and socialise with like-minded people. In 2011 BLAGSS has grown to have 500+ members and covering more than 15 different sports. Without Gideon BLAGSS would not be what is today a thriving club that holds over 200 events over the year, including entry into Brightons Pride Parade, and helping out with the Stoneawall walk, held in Brighton each year.
