Team Oregon profile

id Magazine features the amazing Team Oregon project:

Athletes from around Oregon will be joining the harvest for the world in next summer’s big news story supported in part by the financial backings of Team Oregon.

After six months promoting its vision a total of 82 members have joined in support of Team Oregon. About one quarter of these members are athletes planning to compete in the Gay Games. Fundraising still remains the goal as the Board recently added Matthew Kovenz and Erin Yates. With their previous experience in political fundraising and retail sales they will increase fundraising efforts to support the trip of a targeted 100 Oregonian athletes. “The biggest area of opportunity for success is communication,” states Kovenz. Providing the opportunity for Oregonian athletes to compete often resulting in life altering experiences through the Gay Games is key for supporters to realize and therefore support with their donations. On top of the $20 Team Oregon membership the board encourages community members to donate frequent flyer miles to lessen travel expenses.
