2016 Olympics: Under New Skies

Veterans of the Gay Games will of course recognize the slogan of Gay Games VI 2002, which took place in Sydney, Australia, when for the first time, the Gay Games went to the southern hemisphere.

Now the IOC is taking the Olympics to a new city, Rio de Janeiro, and a new continent for the first time, a bold move that will remind some of the decision made only days earlier by the Federation of Gay Games to take the 2014 Gay Games to Cleveland, Ohio.

The Federation wishes Rio the best of luck, and hopes for future collaboration with the Olympic movement based on our shared values, the most important of which is the principle of sport for all as a human right.
