Helen Carroll on the coach of the Nigerian women's World Cup football team

Helen Carroll of the National Center for Lesbian Rights Sports Project speaks out on the homophobia of the coach of the Nigerian national women's football team that will be competing in the FIFA World Cup.

We wholeheartedly agree with Helen. And we wonder why similar interference of religion in women's sport is somehow acceptable for many organizations, including women's groups, such as the Women's Sports Foundation, when it is interference in the name of Islam. Just a personal religious beliefs have no place in the Nigerian women's football team, they have no place in the non-reglementation garb imposed on female athletes by the repressive Iranian regime.
