As the organisation responsible for the premier quadrennial LGBT sports and culture event, the FGG recognises the commitment and energy required to maintain a large-scale competition. The first Legacy Award for a Sports Event will be given to the Tournoi international de Paris, which celebrated its 6th edition in 2009. Launched by the Fédération sportive gaie et lesbienne (FSGL) in 2004 to support Paris's bid for the 2010 Gay Games, it has continued to attract well over a thousand athletes in over a dozen sports each year, with 1300 athletes from 40 countries competing in 15 sports in the latest edition.
