In an interview, a sociologist who has studied the issue expresses his doubts as to the effectiveness of the charter, and highlights the difficulties for athletes to come out. A short article repeats these concerns, insisting on the fact that the charter is not legally binding. In another interview, an anonymous elite woman basketball player describes the difficulties of being out, even in a sport where there are many lesbian players. Among her concerns regarding coming out is the possible financial impact on her club, should it lose a sponsor. Yet another article deals with football, notably via the case of Yoann Lemaire. Ironically, the portraits of out LGBT athletes, including FGG Ambassador Greg Louganis, would seem to indicate that coming out can be a success...
Despite this interesting feature, we note with regret and dismay that Le Parisien offers no coverage of LGBT sport...
