FGG Ambassador Brian Sims in Senate Gallery during DADT vote

Gay Games Ambassador Brian Sims spoke of being present during the historic vote, and on his pride in being part of a delegation from Equality Pennsylvania:

On December 18th, just this past Saturday I had perhaps the most important day since I began working for LGBT civil rights. Just prior to his vote, I was able to spend some quality time with Pennsylvania Senator, Robert Casey, and along with Judge Dan Anders, we were invited to sit in the Senate Gallery to watch the fall of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”

I can barely explain the sense of pride and accomplishment in watching 65 members of the U.S. Senate make history and I was able to share that pride with 25 leaders and allies from Equality Pennsylvania whom I joined at the White House just after the historic vote.

LGBT Equality is coming and we’re working incredibly hard to make it happen faster hear in Pennsylvania. For Equality Pennsylvania, 2010 has been a time of rebuilding and reorganizing. A time for trying new strategies and finding a new vision, sharpening our mission, reaching out and listening. It has been a time of growth and a moment to build partnerships. We know there are challenges ahead, but we feel ready to meet them head-on.
