This week way back in 1975, Elton John's Philadelphia Freedom was the US Billboard Hot 100 number one single. The song has a Gay Games Ambassador connection that goes beyond Sir Elton John.
Elton John had asked his lyricist Bernie Taupin to write a song in honor of his friend, and fellow Gay Games Ambassador Billie Jean King, whose World Team Tennis team was the Philadelphia Freedoms.
Whatever it's history, it's still a great song. Have a listen:
