Former Gay Games Chicago Co-Chair Seeks Chicago City Council Post

Mona Noriega, the first co-chair of the Chicago 2006 Gay Games bidding group, has thrown her hat into the ring for an appointment by Chicago Mayor Daley to the post of Alderman (City Council Member). The position is open because the current Alderman has accepted a state-wide position from the Illinois Governor. If not appointed, Noriega may choose to run for election in 2011.

Noriega would be the 2nd openly LGBT member of Chicago's City Council. Tom Tunney, an openly gay businessman, represents Lakeview, including Halsted Street's famous "Boystown" business district.
