City of Munich supports Team Muenchen

Gay Games VIII participants from Munich, and from all of Bavaria, got some great support from their city government. With the help of the city department for LGBT equality, we obtained a grant of 500 euros, which paid for our trading pins, which were a great success in Cologne!

More than 200 participants from Munich and elsewhere in Bavaria marched into RheinEnergie Stadium wearing traditional Bavarian clothing and waving Bavarian flags.


This was our first attempt at seeking sponsorship for Team Munich's participation in an international LGBT sports event, and this success encourages us to do more for future competitions. In particular, we have developed good relations with municipal officials, who respect the work we do and support us here in any number of ways.
