The FGG expresses its support for Yoann Lemaire, the most visible case of homophobia in sport in France, in his fight to play football free from threats and discrimination. You can read more on Yoann in English HERE. Yoann has worked with FGG member organization FSGL, dedicated a section of his book to the French federation, appearing at last year's panel discussion at the first Forum FSGL, etc.
Dear Yoann,
On behalf of the Federation of Gay Games, we would like to express our support in your fight to play football as an out athlete.
We thank you for the visibility you have given to the issue of homophobia in sport, and for the calm and dignity you have shown in the face of attacks and threats following your coming out and your refusal to accept the homophobia found in your club.
We are pleased that your personal situation seems to have improved, and that you will be playing on a local team this season.
We wish you the best of luck, and hope that you will continue to be a voice and a face for the need to fight against homophobia in football, and in sport in general.
With our warm regards,
