Luke Millican from London Orca, the water polo team of LGBT swimming club Out to Swim, recently returned triumphant from the Gay Games in Cologne, with the A Team taking gold in the Cup Division.
We spoke to Luke about the win, the team, fit athletes and why the Gay Games are so important.
Congratulations on your gold medal! What did it feel like to win at the Gay Games?
Amazing! It was an unbelievable experience and a bit of a surprise, to be honest!
Did you think you were in with a good chance of winning a medal before the games?
We were quietly confident as we knew our competition and that if we performed well that we would be in with a chance. Copenhagen was always going to be tough.
