Brenda Schumacher directed and produced the Chicago Gay Games VII documentary featuring athletes and artists from seventy countries. As the Broadcast Communications Director for Chicago Games she produced nationally broadcast television commercials, promotional videos and a video tribute that was broadcast live on NBC5.com. Schumacher is the consulting producer for Gay Games VIII Cologne, and has produced video shorts for Planet Out, MTV, Logo, and Q Television Network.
Brenda is co-producer of Cabrini Green: Mixing it Up, from the Director of the award-winning film Voices of Cabrini. She is seeking funding via Kickstarter.com, an innovative site that brings together backers small and large, to fund creative projects.
The film aims to tell the unheard stories of the public housing residents and families who have been displaced by the demolition of Chicago’s Cabrini Green Public Housing development. "We are telling a crucial story that no one else is telling, and we need your help to bring these voices to the public, and to join the national dialogue on urban planning and poverty."
"We’re very close to completing the film. We’ve edited over 200 hours filmed during the past 15 years. We’ve culled all of these amazing interviews and scenes into a 60-minute fine cut. Kickstarter funds will be used to create opening and closing titles, purchase music rights and archival footage, clean up the sound, and add animation."
