29 June 2011 / New York City Gay Men's Chorus says "(Accentuate the) Positive"

A message from the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, a member of FGG member GALA Choruses:

Wednesday, June 29, 2011 8:00PM
Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, NYU

It’s time to take a fresh look at how we see HIV. In upbeat and joyful celebration, NYCGMC will explore how life with HIV and AIDS has changed over more than three decades. We will salute the insights and humor of the survivors - gay and straight, black and white, young and old - those who made it through the days when survival wasn't likely.

We will recount their diverse, fascinating, moving and at times hilarious stories, unified by struggle and a universal determination to thrive, to overcome and to live life to the fullest.

(Accentuate the) Positive may also surprise you. With the help of our community partners, including GMHC, and CHEST, we will also bring you the very latest thinking on HIV, but as only the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus can!

The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus was there when the HIV/AIDS health crisis started. We lost friends, expressed the anger of the community, raised awareness and grieved. Now, as we complete our 2010-11 season, we continue our relentless sex-positive campaign for all of us to protect ourselves and get tested.

Come and see what positive lives look like. Bring your lovers, families, friends and memories. Be with us at Pride, as we mark more than 30 years of love and loss, but above all LIFE!
