On 9 December, as part of its 30th-anniversary celebrations, CHEER San Francisco presented the Federation of Gay Games a wonderful "Community Service Partnership" award through its CHEER For Life Foundation. At the Presentation Banquet, CHEER SF also awarded the largest annual fundraising check in their 30-year history to a local AIDS service organization, the Positive Resource Center (see HERE). That group received a check for an amazing USD 20,000!

Ryan Allen, CHEER San Francisco Program Director said that: "The team is celebrating our 30th 'Pearl' Anniversary Year, and being poised to hand over this most extraordinary donation here at home in San Francisco is an honor that we cherish." And this USD 20,000 donation is not even the total raised this year by CHEER SF: an additional USD 11,000 was given to nine other local organizations dealing with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.

But even these sums do not represent all that this amazing group have raised this year. While in Cologne for Gay Games VIII, CHEER SF (along with friends from other cheer squads) raised USD 16,000 via individual donations to their ubiquitous red buckets. Half of that money remained in Germany via a generous donation to the AIDS Hilfe Koln organization (AIDS Help Cologne). The other USD 8,000 was presented to the Federation of Gay Games in late September (see HERE).

The award was graciously accepted by Federation of Gay Games Officer of Marketing Doug Litwin. At this time of holiday celebrations, both the FGG and the CHEER For Life Foundation have much to celebrate. Our thanks go to these amazing cheerleaders for the amazing, selfless, and generous work they do, especially in these difficult economic times.
