FSGL Annual General Assembly the venue for Medal of Honour presentation

Prior to the annual general assembly of FGG member organisation "Fédération sportive gaie et lesbienne" (FSGL), an extraordinary GA was held to modify the bylaws of the FSGL. These modifications were necessary as part of the process of applying for official recognition for the FSGL from the French Ministry of Sport as a "fédération affinitaire" (a multi-sport federation that brings together athletes who share common non-sporting interests, as distinct from a sport-specific federation). Such status would offer greater financial and technical support from the national and regional governments and improve access for the FSGL member clubs to their various national sports federation. The next step after the changes in membership categories made will be the creation of new policies, including antidoping policy.

During the annual general assembly which immediately followed, outgoing president Bruno Aussenac made a moving report on the past year's activities, including the outstanding presence of Equipe France in Cologne for Gay Games VIII. After the assembly unanimously approved this report and accorded Bruno the title of Honorary Life Member, Emy Ritt presented Bruno with an Gay Games Medal of Honour, the first such presentation ever made. The representatives of the 31 member clubs of the FSGL responded with enthusiastic applause.

After approval of 2010 accounts and the 2011 budget, which includes expanded spending for a new website and for regional development, the assembly moved to elections, during which Christelle Foucault, currently first vice president of the Federation, chair of Equipe France 2010, and FSGL delegate to the FGG, was elected president of the French federation. Christelle will remain as delegate to the FGG, alongside a new delegate, ice hockey player Jérôme Veysset.
