Hudson Taylor of Athlete Ally to receive PFLAG "Straight for Equality" award

Athlete Ally has posted that Hudson Taylor will be honored at the PFLAG Straight for Equality Gala. Here's a message about the program and the gala from PFLAG (Parents and Families of Lesbians and Gays):

Across the country, thousands of straight individuals who don’t necessarily have a family member who is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT) are seeing big changes in the way that their GLBT friends and colleagues are treated. If you or someone you know is straight and wants to help the gay community, join in the fight for equality, or just learn more about these issues, you’ve come to the right place. Anyone interested in any of these topics is an ally! Allies, you’ve come to
the right place. Straight for Equality is the answer for you.

Straight for Equality is a national outreach and education project created by PFLAG National to empower allies in supporting and advocating for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Straight for Equality wouldn’t even be able to exist if it were not for the courage of brave straight allies from all walks of life to stand up and speak out as allies for equality. Each year, Straight for Equality hosts an awards gala to honor these individuals who are changing hearts and minds in their respective fields.
Past honorees have included author Maya Angelou (2009), entertainer Liza Minnelli (2010), actress Sigourney Weaver (2009), NFL star Scott Fujita (2010), diversity pioneer Johnnetta B. Cole (2009), and corporations including IBM (2009) and Sodexo (2010).

And now, we are proud to invite you to join us on March 14, 2011 as we honor a new set of powerful allies in New York City at the Third Annual Straight for Equality Awards Gala at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.
