Will the real Billy Bean(e) please rise?

As a frequent blogger here, and the person in charge of the Gay Games Ambassador program, I have a news alert for most of our Ambassadors. This is great, except for lately, when I keep getting false alerts for Billy Bean. The problem is from journalists who are writing about the movie Moneyball, which tells the story of Billy Beane. With an EEEEEE.

That’s what I’ve always told them. It’s my auto response when people ask me if I’m the General Manager of the Oakland A’s baseball club. I’m not him, I’m the “other” Billy Bean, the only man alive who played Major League Baseball to acknowledge he’s gay.

The other Billy Beane just happened to be my teammate in 1988 when we both played for the Detroit Tigers Triple A team, called the Toledo Mud Hens.
