This article from French newsmagazine VSD looks at the sensitive issue of the control of Qatar over sport, in particular their takeover of leading French club PSG. PSG is known for its actions against homophobia, and is the lead partner for Paris Foot Gay.

French president Nicolas Sarkozy, who has denied the existence of homophobia in sport in France, worked to ensure the successful bid for PSG by Qatar. To avoid a public scandal so soon after the purchase of the club, the agreement between PSG and PFG was extended, despite the reluctance of the new owners to do so.
